What is a Grand Prix?

A Grand Prix offers exciting racing for drivers that wish to compete as individuals and race for points in a series of qualifying heats. Points are awarded to each driver based on finishing position, with the winner receiving maximum points. After all drivers have completed their heats, there's a final race for all drivers, the grid position is based on the points earned. The event consists of:

* Warm-up lap
* 2 qualifying heats per driver
* Final race

Qualifying Heats

Each driver races in the qualifying heats. The first driver to complete all the laps is the winner and is awarded maximum points, the next driver to cross the finish line is awarded the next highest points, and so on. The points for each qualifying session are added together determine the grid line up for the final.

Final

After all drivers have completed qualifying it's time for the finals. Every driver races in a final. Points earned during qualifying determines which type of final (class) and grid position the driver will start in. For example, drivers with the highest number of points accumulated during qualifying will race together in the Class A final and pole position goes to the driver with the most points. The winner of the Grand Prix is determined by finishing position in the Class A final only. Medals are presented for first, second and third place.

What is a Mini Grand Prix?

A Mini Grand Prix has a similar structure to a full Grand Prix but the Mini Grand Prix is designed for less drivers.

What Is Team Endurance?

Team Endurance caters for racing in teams and is ideal for groups and corporate events. Drivers are grouped in to teams of your choice and you decide how many drivers per team. Each team is hiring a kart for a length of time, this is cost effective as the cost can be divided between team members. The event consists of:

* Qualifying session
* Racing

During qualifying and racing, pit stops are required for drivers to change over, this ensures that each team member has at least one drive. Pit stops may also be required during the race for re-fuelling. Each team is provided with a number board that can be used for signalling to the driver on the track that he/she should make a pit stop on the next lap. Pit stops are controlled and managed by the team, this means you can adopt your own strategies.

Qualifying

During the qualifying session each team member takes a turn to qualify. The order in which each driver goes out to qualify, and for how long is managed by the team. A particular strategy may be to allocate more time to less experienced drivers. The computer lap timing system monitors each teams performance, the fastest lap time set by each team determines the grid positions for the race.

Racing

Following qualifying, drivers take position on the starting grid. When the lights turn green, the race starts and continues for a specific length of time, depending on the Team Endurance package chosen. Teams strategically decide when to make pit stops for driver change over or re-fuelling. The team that has completed the most laps at the end of the race is the winning team. Medals are presented to the winning team members.

About Practice Sessions (Arrive and Drive)

Practice sessions are perfect for novice or experienced drivers to come and practice - please phone first to arrange the session and check availability.

A computer timing system monitors your performance and provides a printout that you can use to compare results.

Experience

You will shave seconds from your fastest lap time during the first couple of races, so you may want to practice before your next group racing event to ensure faster lap times and have a better chance of crossing the finish line first.

Try The Full Racing Experience

Please remember practice sessions are not for racing. For the full racing experience we have the Team Endurance, Grand Prix and Mini Grand Prix events.
